This Saturday the Hawks put in one of their best performances of the season against SFA's best team. In the first the ten minutes it was like a game of ping pong, the ball kept going form end to end. Their goalkeeper was a giant, we weren't sure if he was U11 or older than 11. He kept saving all of our shots, he was like an enormous Arthur. Our defence of Luke, Oran and Dexter were solid as usual as they kept SFA chances out. Both teams were passing the ball well and it was good game to be playing in.
The second half Harry crossed the ball and Taylan buried it to make it 1-0 to the Hawks. SFA wren't giving up and had a goal disallowed for offside, good call by linesman Gary Coles. The pressure continued and SFA sneaked an equaliser at the near post with less than 10 minutes to go. At the end of the game it was really nervous for both teams as they went for the win. Then Arthur saved the best for last with a fantastic save in the last minute. All the Hawks had to do was clear the ball and the referee blew for full time. scorer Taylan Hasan Seb Berndes No. 8 Norsemen Hawks

We played this team before Christmas and won 2-0 in a friendly but this time it was even better! It was definitely going to be difficult because it was a cup match and nobody wanted to go out in the first stage of the competition. Potters Bars began strongly but Norseman's strength got to them and we were back in control of the game. Harry H scored the first goal with some nice build up in midfield from Theo and Seb. There was more Norsemen pressure, their goalie cleared, it went straight to Jake who scored a long range strike. The defence was strong with great tackles from Luke and and Dexter. The second half had more great football from the Hawks. Olly was playing well in midfield, George played a spectacular ball to Harry H who bamboozled his marker, crossed it for Taylan who scored a calm finish. Oran was being an engine in midfield, Harry G was calm at the back so Arthur had another clean sheet in the bag. We can't wait for the quarter finals and we hope we can go all the way this year! Seb Berndes No.8 Norsemen Hawks The Hawks produced their worst performance of the season as we lost 3-1 away to SFA Raiders on Saturday. In the first ten minutes the Hawks definitely had the best chances but our shooting wasn't accurate. But we still felt we were going to win. But then disaster struck! A simple ball fell to Oliver in the penalty box, Arthur called for it, Olly didn't clear it and it was 1-0 to SFA. The second half was a lot better but their goalie was playing well and made two or three great saves. Then chaos got to the Hawks again and a scuffed SFA shot crept in at the near post. Then Harry H put in a great cross and Jake scored with a spectacular header. 2-1 Hawks was the comeback on? Hawks had more and more chances, Jake had a great chance to make it 2-2 but it went over. SFA broke away, their cross deflected off Luke, hit the post and went in to break all our hearts. If perform like this next week in the cup we won't be making it to the next round. scorer - Harry Hales First win of the new year!!
The Hawks started 2019 with fantastic, fantasy football with a win in the bag against Stevenage Borough Silvers. It was 3-2 to the Hawks with George getting the first, Seb scoring the second and Theo getting the third. We hadn't played for a long time so it was good to get a win to start the year. Dexter was playing this week so the defence of Arthur, Harry G, Luke and Oran worked really hard to keep Stevenage out. Hawks started to get into the game and Jake had two chances but none went in. Harry the past to Seb who shot, but George followed it up to make it 1-0 to the Hawks. Stevenage got a corner, Hawks didn't clear and it was 1-1. The second half began with the Hawks playing some nice passing and great attacking from Theo, Harry and Jake. The broke in the box and Seb scored with a cool finish. Hawks were looking good and Theo scored to make it 3-1. It was getting towards the end of the game, Stevenage got a free kick. It was great strike 3-2 to the Hawks. It was a nervous last 2 minutes but Hawks defence stayed committed and didn't let another goal in. After the match Colin and Theo couldn't choose a man of the match because we all played so well. This week we had no Arthur, because he twisted his ankle so Dexter and Taylan had to go in goal. The Hawks hadn't had a win in quite a long time and wanted to get one this week. We started off strongly with Harry,Theo and Jake but they were tackled by their defence. Norseman's defence was also strong with Luke,Oran and Harry G together and nobody got past. 15 minutes had been played when Harry had a shot and it was 1-0. At half time we were leading by one goal and we were eager for more. The Hawks had a lot of attacks but we kept getting corners. The opposition started to get back into the game but our defence was strong and kept their line with no shots being made. It was the last five minutes and a ball was given to Taylan he had to slide in and in the next moment it was in the net to make it 2-0 to the Hawks . The ref blew the whistle and we kept a clean sheet . Scorers Harry Hales and Taylan Hassan Seb Berndes No.8 Norseman Hawks. No justice for the Hawks!!!!
Norseman really wanted a win before Christmas, but it didn't happen this week. George wasn't there because of a cold and Jake was away for his rest week. The start of the game was even but we had the first opportunity which was a nice cross from Harry H but it was blocked by their defence. The match was about the two defences, ours featuring Dexter, Luke, Oran and Arthur in goal and theirs were keeping all the chances out. Then trouble struck the Hawks. A corner wasn't cleared and it was a tap in for Hertford to make it 1-0. At half time Colin and Theo tried to raise our spirits and the second half begun. Theo had a couple of chances but Hertford were holding out. Then a cross came into the Hawks box, Arthur shouted 'keepers' but there was confusion and Hertford increased their lead to 2-0. But the Hawks didn't give up. Some lovely passing gave the ball to Harry and he shot with power and accuracy to make it 2-1 and our heads were up high. There was controversy at the end! A Hertford player sat on the ball as Dexter was attacking and the ref gave a throw in to Hertford! How did the ref not see the obstruction? It was a sad end to a strong performance from the boys. A big shout out to our defence who were outstanding and if we continue to play with this desire the wins will come. Seb Berndes No. 8 Norsemen Hawks scorer - Harry Hales The Hawks had a draw last week and we wanted to get a win today. This league has been a big step up from our old league and we are playing more challenging matches. With Arthur, Luke and Oliver away we all had to play the whole match. In the first 7 minutes we were on the attack, Harry shot, the keeper saved it and it came to Theo with an open goal, he shot but it was cleared off the line by their defender. About 2 minutes later the opposition were in the same position as us but they scored and they were 1-0 up. In the twentieth minute they were on the attack and were doing nice passing. They shot and scored to put Norseman's heads down. The Hawks were having shot after shot but none of them were going in. The opposition brought on a substitute he was really fast and got passed our defenders and he scored to make are hearts thump. The ref blew his whistle for half time and we had a lot to talk about and tac tics to try. We switched our goalies, with Jake coming out and Taylan going in. We gave away a penalty and if they scored there would be no coming back. He shot but Taylan saved it! Hawks suffered again with another goal to Tottenhall and was 4-0. The shot was unstoppable!! Despite the 4-0 Hawks created lots of chances, but none went in! But in the last kick off the game Harry scored to give us some pride. We didn't deserve to lose 4-1, Hawks will come back stronger next week.
Seb Berndes no.8. Norseman Hawks
After last weeks loss Norseman had to be at their best to get a win and start their winning strike again. It was Theo's rest week so that was a big miss for us. It was in the first 10 minutes, George was through on goal. It was a battle between George and the defender .George beat the defender and was now running at the goalkeeper, seconds later it was 1-0 to the Hawks, and we were of to a good start. The defence were solid at the back with Luke T not anyone get past him. In the second half George and Harry both had great opportunities with George hitting the post and Harry putting three shots wide. The opposition had a ball played to their right wing back, he shot from outside the box and ended up over Arthur's head in our net. The rest of the match was quite even, we had our attacks and they had their chances. The game was over and it was 1-1. It was the right score at the end of the day but maybe we could have got another goal? Hopefully we can win next Saturday. Seb. Berndes No.8 Norseman Hawks. scorer George Gruenewald It was our first game in the higher division and Norseman knew we had to up our game. Was it going to be the Hawks first game loss in the league in 11 months???? In the first 15 minutes it was even but the other team had the better chances and could have been ahead. Harry had tons of space, he shot from outside the box and it was 1-0 to the Hawks, just before half time. At the start of the second half, we had a free kick and Harry hit it like Gareth Bale into the top corner, 2-0 to Norsemen. Arthur was amazing in goal with a defence of Luke T, Oran, Dexter, Harry G and Jake holding a solid blue line to keep Hitchin out. The Hawks broke again, Sebastian was through on goal and tricked the goalie, past to Taylan with a clear shot at goal and it was 3-0. Hitchin didn't give up and they had a free kick which they smashed into the top corner. 3-1 with 5 minutes to go. In the last minute Hitchin's winger cut in and managed to sneak in a second goal. The ref blew his whistle and the final score was 3-2. Sebastian Berndes no.8 Norseman Hawks Scorers Harry Hales x 2 Taylan Hassan It was another big win for the Hawks and we keep are impressive winning streak rolling on.
We were away against Hoddesdon Reds who were unknown to us so we didn't know what to expect. But it was a good day at the office for us with four great goals from Jake. George was solid in the front line of the attack and blew their defence away with two astonishing goals. William got his first goal of the season as well. The Hawks were 'like Hawks' with some lethal passing and counter attacking. Theo was like Iniesta in central midfield and Luke was like Thiago Silva in defence. Despite being well protected in defence by Luke, Harry G, Dexter and Seb, Arthur made one spectacular save. Hawks go into the half term break looking devlish for the rest of the season.
